Fake Square payment requests using the Brand12 name

If you’ve received an email from Square claiming to be from Brand12, we want to make you aware that it is fraudulent.

We do not use Square as a payment platform and never have. Any payment request, invoice or email claiming to be from Brand12 via Square should be treated as suspicious.

What’s happening?

We’ve recently become aware that fraudsters are using the Brand12 name in an attempt to obtain payments through Square.

In the past five days alone, we’ve been contacted by two individuals who received these fraudulent payment requests. Thankfully one payment was stopped before it was processed. Unfortunately another payment was successfully made before the recipient realised it was not genuine.

As soon as we became aware of the issue, we reported it to Square and the relevant authorities.

What should you do?

If you receive an email or invoice from Square that appears to come from Brand12:

  • Do not make any payment.
  • Do not click any payment links until you’ve verified the request.
  • Report the email to Square by forwarding it to spoof@squareup.com.
  • Contact us directly if you’re unsure whether a payment request is genuine.

How to identify a genuine Brand12 invoice

We never issue invoices or payment requests through Square.

If you ever have any doubt about a payment request that appears to come from us, please contact our team directly using the contact details published on our website before making any payment.

Staying safe from invoice fraud

Invoice and payment fraud is becoming increasingly common, with scammers impersonating legitimate businesses to trick customers into making payments.

Before paying any unexpected invoice:

  • Check the sender’s email address carefully.
  • Verify the payment method is one you’ve used with the company before.
  • Be cautious of urgent payment requests or unexpected invoices.
  • Contact the business directly using a trusted phone number or website, not the contact details provided in the suspicious email.

A quick phone call can prevent a costly mistake.

Need to check a payment request?

We’re continuing to work with Square and the relevant authorities to help prevent further fraudulent activity and appreciate everyone who has reported these emails to us.
